Not just a vintage Second hand clothing store!
Updated: Jun 25
Be Your Sass isn't just a awesome vintage second hand clothing store. it is also a place i like to support local crafter's, creatives and charities. Having my space filled with beautiful works of art from independent hard working individuals makes me feel inspired, makes me feel apart of there story makes me feel humbled. Everywhere i have been and everything i have has been from word of mouth, has been from being at the right place at the right time. call it luck, call it fait. call it whatever you wish. For me being able to offer a wall for a artist to hang there art not only brings me so much joy as they trust me with there work but also means that maybe just hopefully i can help them get the recognition they deserve and who knows what may come of such displays!
In-store you can shop from local artists including bright totally unique works from the wonderful Sally Hopson and fantastic collage prints from the lovely Helen Hoyle. One of her prints aptly named 'ode to kindness' i have hung pride of place in my bedroom! These artists i truly admire, i love having there work in and around my home and happy place adding character to my walls.
As well as shopping a huge range of vintage clothing and local artwork you can also shop from beautiful makers. its important to me to give beautiful creatives i adore a space to showcase there crafts. Reducing, Reusing and Recycling is a core value of mine, i like to reduce- fabric waste and restore clothing so it doesn't end up at landfill. On this mission to create not waste is a beautiful soul i met recently, Abbey.
She has been making her own clothing for years out of lots of gorgeous recycled fabrics and sourced material from charity shops. She even used her childhood bedding to make an amazing jumpsuit! She is a beautiful seamstress and i am so happy she will be creating some gorgeous clothing including her amazing jumpsuits for me to have exclusively in- store soon. Other eco creatives i love supporting is the gorgeous Ola Fala Studio. She recycles cotton from her home town in Poland to make her gorgeous macrame creations. Not only do her air plant holders and macrame wall hangings feature heavily in-store she also regularly uses the shop space to hold local workshops for local folk to come and try there hand at macrame!
Check her out online to keep up to date with her upcoming workshops. www.falastudio.net
As well as Macrame i am super excited to be an official stockist of Peapodcreations up-cycled Tin art. I admired Emma's work from afar after discovering her on Instagram, Emma up-cycles tins in her shed in Devon using anything from images of Dolly Parton (my favourite) to pom poms and glitter! seeing is believing these tin creations really do add so much colour to my shop. I love them! Come in and check them out. You wont find them anywhere else in Cornwall!
So you have purchased a new to you vintage garment and your buying a piece of art now you will find sitting pride of place on my desk is a Collection Tin for St Petroc's. Please do chuck in a few spare coins or loose change. It is much appreciated by this worthy cause. This charity is so close to my heart. With homelessness being a serious problem in this country. As well as regularly taking them jumpers and clothing left over from my swooshing events i know the small money i can collect in-store for them they are truly grateful for!
I hope to see you in-store soon. Shopping and supporting us all and If you are interested in displaying your work or hiring a unique space for your workshop/event please do get in touch via email firstname.lastname@example.org
